Working process.

I want to evolve. All the time. Sometimes it makes me stressed, but once I get started with a new project I can’t stop. But the time before can be horrible. Maybe that’s how it’s like being in a working process. I love my work, I really do. But when you decide that you want to work creatively, you say goodbye to silence. Or maybe thats just in my head… because I work all the time. Even if I’m not. Is it just me? Can you meditate? Really, really, clear your head during a period of time?

I must get better with coloring. So here we go!

Trip to the countryside.

Last friday me and a friend took a trip to see cows and tractors. We had our children with us. They love tractors. I love food. My friends mom had made this wonderful stew with moose and wild pig! What else can you eat when you’re visiting a farm? On our way home we stopped at a flea market. I found a lamp for my sons room and my son found theese… men. Which reminded me of village people.

Where’s the forest?

… my son asked when we went for a walk (well, the kids ran with the dog, we ran after) in the forest this weekend… I can’t blame him. We live in a nonforest area. Öland is flat, with a few exceptions. This is just outside Malmö, called “Bokskogen”, or “Birchwoods” directly translated.

This is the awakening. Just before spring explodes. Take a look at the purple birches. It’s here now. Spring.

I have a friend.

I have the most talanted friend. Her name is Mikaela Elf and she’s also an illustrator. She makes the most fantastic pictures and I’m a big fan! She uses scraper board and photoshop. Enjoy!  © Mikaela Elf

Somedays…

Somedays you shouldn’t even have gone out of bed… My brain doesn’t work today, I even told my body to go for a walk – it just didn’t! Somedays you should just lay in bed… thinking it’s OK to be anti-creative.

The color of Friday is: Bright.

I went to a big flea-market on Wednesday. I don’t lie when I say that the old people there actually pushed me aside! And they didn’t listen to what I had to say about it! They just kept on taking whatever they saw, mostly easter decorations. But hey! Don’t you have a LIFETIME of ester decorations AT HOME?! Should I get really really mad or just laugh about it? I laughed. I just couldn’t lower my self to their level…

While I had the opportunity I grabbed a few things and ran! But look how bright and happy my table looks.

Working, raking, screaming, crying.

A spring storm has hit Öland. I hope all the leaves will blow away! Far away… I’m still working with a promotion for ME. So I just dropped in to say HI!

To my niece who’s 3 years today, and to my little sister who turned 30 yesterday I yell: HAPPY BIRTHDAY! See you soon.

And while I’m at it: To the birthday children Markus and Heléne; Have a great releaseparty on saturday! What’s with march?

My love for Arne Jacobsen.

I do. I love Arne Jacobsen’s work! Looking trough my old folders filled with years of work, I found these illustrations. For a school project YEARS ago we went to the art museum Louisiana in Denmark to look at an Arne Jacobsen exihibition. I know he did lots of nice work with chairs and things, but the object I love the most must be this absolutely wonderful gas station!

Longing.

I just can’t wait for the sun to come here… We need the light and the warmth. It’s freezing cold outside! I want to see what is growing in my garden. I want to sit outside and drink my coffee. NOW! 

Old stuff.

Looking through my work I came over some pretty old things I’ve done. Like this second picture beneath. Like many others I also wanted to draw fashion. Like Stina Wirsén or Liselotte Watkins, two of the most talanted artists you can find! But I didn’t make it. I couldn’t. For a long time I actually wanted to be broad, wanted to be good at every manner to get more jobs… After a while you get more and more performance anxiety and you loose faith in your ability. You just can’t be anyone but… you.

I really, really want to move my couch.

I tried to refurnish by myself… With a bad back, that’s not a very good move. I gave up. And came up with theese ideas for clothes instead.

The sun is shining and I want to look out the window instead of staring at the TV! Come home husband. Help me move the couch!

New family members.

Let me introduce to you our newest members of this family of four: Woody and Jessie. They moved in yesterday. A girl who no longer had the time, thought they would be better off with our youngest. I thought he would pass out when he first saw them, laying on his bed. We thank you L! You just made a little boys dream come true.

I want…

I want to feel warm winds. I want to see little green sprouts in my garden. I want to sit outside, see my kids play with the sun touching my face. I want to take my socks off feeling the grass between my toes. I want to take a glass of wine with friends outside with a blanket wrapped around me in the evening, knowing the sun will rise the next morning. 

Home again.

I left for Gothenburg on friday with two of my friends. I’m back home again with a warm feeling, filled with joy and love for my dear friends.
